Hear From the Coaches: Hawkeye Community College

Hawkeye Community College will be embarking on their inaugural year of cross country and track this upcoming fall. After a great year of recruiting and many signings from athletes across the midwest, hear from the coaches on why you should consider them for your collegiate career!

Coach Micah Ruroden: Tyler and myself are both laid back guys with a competitive nature that people around us feed off of.  We are both process coaches who believe that if you are practicing for us you will compete for us in a RedTail uniform.  The first year is a year for all of us to #setthestandard here at Hawkeye.  Hawkeye Community College is a 2 year school that has numerous degrees that transfer in to any major school in the state of Iowa.  Hawkeye offers anything from Business, Agriculture, Media and Graphic Design, or Liberal arts can all transfer into bigger schools around us for a very affordable price.

Coach Tyler Mulder: For me as a coach, I'm excited to get this program started coming off of my professional career!  It's exciting to be a part of starting up a program, and we hope to help all the incoming students reach their fullest potential!  You should be seeing a lot of them continue their athletic careers at other institutions after Hawkeye Community College and other getting into their specific field of studies.

MR: Our programs and institution are worth looking into for its affordability, academics, and now with athletics as a whole Hawkeye can really provide a big school feel of a very affordable price for our students.

TMMy coaching philosophies are pretty simple, work hard and do all the little things right and you'll see some big benefits in your performance.  I want all the kids to be able to walk away from Hawkeye feeling accomplished with what they've done and learned on and off the track.  The reason that I think that Hawkeye is special amongst other NCJAA schools our closeness with the University of Northern Iowa, and the excitement of starting the program.  Coach Micah Ruroden and myself have a team motto of "Set the standard" which we've used as our hashtag on social media as we hope the incoming students that we have pave the way of success for the athletes to follow.

If an athlete wants to start the recruiting process with us, the best way is to fill out our recruit me form and schedule a visit with us.  This can be done online at www.redtailathletics.com .  Scheduling a visit they can send an email and I can help them get set up with admissions, always follow up if you haven't heard from a coach and are very interested in the program.  They can also reach out to me on social media on Instagram @TallTMulder or twitter @coachTMulder also our @RedTailTrackXC page.
