Anna Fenske (Farmington, Fr)
There's really no analysis necessary: Fenske won State last year as an 8th grader. 8 days later, she would run 17:00 at NXN Heartland to advance to Nike Nationals, where she would go on to earn All-American honors. Sure, she only got 3rd at the State 3200, but on grass, the rising frosh is clearly the one to beat. Last year's victory came in a landslide, as she won by 36.4 seconds. And though she didn't win the 3200 crown, she was victorious in the 1600, running 4:55.20. Even if anyone is near Fenske by the end of the race, she's still a good bet for the win with that speed. It's unfortunate that star runner Grace Ping will compete in single A after returning to MN this year, as we won't get to see these two freshman phenoms match up for the State title.
