Lauren Peterson (Farmington, Jr)
If anyone will unseat Fenske from her throne, her training partner and teammate Peterson might have the best shot. Peterson, last year's runner-up, qualified for both Nike and Foot Locker Nationals last season, an achievement that no other runner in the state accomplished. This spring, she won the 3200 title with a stellar 10:31.50 effort, outkicking her teammate Fenske and the field to earn her first State championship. To beat the reigning champ, she'll need a strong kick like the 71 second final lap she had saved for the end of that race. Regardless of if Peterson will edge Fenske, look for two tigers at the front of the pack come postseason in MN. These two Farmington athletes have a legitimate chance to be the best 1-2 punch in MN history, reminiscent of the remarkable Hasz twins.
