Conference Championships Begin - Tuesday Meets

Weather: Low 50's,  partly cloudly, light wind, chance of rain

BOYS

Top Teams: John Marshall (32 points), Century (45), Mayo (51)

Top Individuals: Mitchell Olson (Rochester John Marshall, 16:33), Spencer Moore (Rochester Mayo, 16:42), Caleb Feda (Rochester John Marshall, 16:57), Jacob Anglin (Rochester Mayo, 17:10), Jackson Murray (Rochester Century, 17:10)

The Skinny: John Marshall has made a remarkable improvement in recent years, as this squad is without a doubt the best and deepest the school has produced in the past decade. They are also primarily seniors, it may be their last great chance for a while to really push for a shot at State (an outside shot, for sure, but a definite shot). A good meet here will give them a ton of confidence moving forward. Meanwhile, Mayo's Spencer Moore hopes to get back to where he was in 2016 with a breakout race here.

GIRLS

Top Teams: Century (18 points)

Top Individuals: Aly Welch (Rochester Century, 18:32), Helen Li  (Rochester Century, 18:36), Kendall Pfrimmer (Rochester Mayo, 19:04), Kaitlin Miller (Rochester Century, 19:36), Kennedy Speer (Rochester Century, 19:50), Ava Nuttall (Rochester Century, 19:51)

The Skinny: Something would need to go horribly wrong in order for Rochester Century not to win (either that, or resting their varsity squad). At their last competition in Eau Claire, Century put five athletes under 20 minutes, closed up their spread to 79 seconds, and Aly Welch reminded us why she was All Stae last year. Century is now appears to have an excellent shot on both a conference and section championships (Red Wing will be their biggest competition for both), and a good race here will help them keep up that momentum.
