The Top 7 Girls Teams At NXR Heartland

Wayzata (MN)

Perhaps we could have seen it coming, but you could forgive us if the Wayzata girls entered the season a little under-the-radar. The 2013 NXN champions always have a very strong team, but they were also coming off a season where they failed to qualify for the Minnesota state championships and graduated three key members.

Still, they wasted no time in re-establishing themselves as a national powerhouse, thanks to the addition of 2:12 800m runner Caroline Sassan and improvements from runners like Emma Atkinson, Rhynn Paulson, and Emilia Arnone. Wayzata swept through the regular season, only losing to national powers Naperville North and Great Oak at the Roy Griak Invitational, and they are fresh off a strong win at the Minnesota Class AA Championship.

They are the Flo50 No. 8 team right now and the definite favorite to claim one of the NXN qualifying bids
