The Top 7 Girls Teams At NXR Heartland

Edina (MN)
"Down, but not out" was how you could best describe Edina early this season. Qualifiers for NXN the last two years, they seemed poised to do it again this year until injuries and illness ravaged the team and left Emily Kompelien and Sadie Schreiner as the only runners left from their NXN team last year. It was in this state that Edina took eighth overall at the Roy Griak Invitational. But the status-quo is returning, as both Morgan Richter and Maria Rickman from last year's NXN team are back and ready to contribute, and they are also helped immensely by the dramatic improvement of Katherine Berube, who at this time last season was running over eight minutes slower than her current 18:49 season best. At both sections and state, Edina proved themselves to be within reasonable striking distance of Wayzata, taking runner-up honors in both races, and as a result have climbed back into the Flo50 rankings at No. 25. Even if they don't make it as an automatic qualifier, they have a good shot at one of the four wild card spots
