Eleven Class A Girls Who Want To Make History In 2018

Marissa Whitehead, Martin County West, So

After taking track season off, Marissa Whitehead is ready to get back to competing on the grass. The rising sophomore came into last season with great expectations after finishing as the runner-up to Tierney Wolfgram at State as an 8th grader. She lived up to expectations, finishing 7th and breaking 19:00 for the first time in her career. As a 7th grader, Whitehead nabbed yet another All-State honor in 20th, meaning that she's earned that coveted status in every single cross country season that she's ever run. The chances for her to repeat that feat are good, considering that she'll almost surely be on the podium again. Whitehead decided not to compete in track, so expect her to enter the season mentally and physically fresh. She'll be ready to dominate this fall.
