Stillwater began their season with a bang, falling just a tiebreaker short of beating Wayzata in an early-season matchup, but that high was followed with a fairly distant fourth-place finish behind Edina, Dowling Catholic, and Sioux Falls Lincoln at the Heartland Classic. Since then, Stillwater has settled into a good groove, finishing within sight of Edina, Mounds View and Wayzata each time they've seen them, but never quite getting over the hump. State was the same story for the Ponies, as they were just ten points behind Wayzata in fourth place. The parallels between them and Wayzata are actually quite striking at a glance, as both teams have one individual with NXN hopes, followed by a large gap and a tight group from 2 through 5. And like the Trojans, if the 2011 NXN qualifiers want to make a return trip to Portland, it will depend on closing that gap between Addison Stansbury and the rest of the pack.
