Wolke sets school record, leads Auggies at Meet of the UnSaintly

MEET RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Sprinter Rick Wolke (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn.) recorded a first-place finish and set a school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.61 seconds, leading the Augsburg College men's track and field team on Saturday afternoon at the Hamline University Meet of the UnSaintly. No team results were recorded.

Wolke's time in the 200 is an NCAA national championships provisional qualifying time, and is the fastest recorded time among MIAC participants in the event this season. James Strand (SR, Brainerd, Minn.) finished fourth in the 200 for Augsburg, recording a season-best time of 22.41 seconds.

In addition to his performance in the 200, Wolke also recorded a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.02 seconds. Sprinter Nick Ward (JR,Coon Rapids, Minn.) recorded a sixth-place finish in the 100 with a time of 11.09 seconds.

Augsburg's Matthew Schafer (FY, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run, recording a time of 4:03.08.

Joe Arnold (SO, Grand Rapids, Minn.) recorded an outdoor season-best time of 50.64 seconds in the 400 meter dash to finish in sixth place.  
  
Distance runner Brent Haglund (SR, Fridley, Minn.) finished first among NCAA Division III participants in the 5,000-meter run, recording a time of 15:22.30.

Shane Wyborny (SR, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) recorded a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a season-best time of 9:48.29. Wyborny's time is the seventh-fastest recorded among MIAC participants in the event this season. 

Leading the Auggies in the field events were a trio of triple jumpers, led by Shane Pantila (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS). Pantila finished in first-place, recording a distance of 13.80 meters (45-feet-3.5), while teammates Emmanuel Marcellino (SO, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) and Seth Norberg (SO, Northfield, Minn.) finished in fourth- and eighth-place respectively. Marcellino's distance of 13.59 meters (44-feet-7.0) is a personal season-best in the event this season.

The Augsburg 400-meter relay team recorded a second-place finish with a time of 42.18 seconds.

The Auggies return to action at the MIAC outdoor championships next Friday and Saturdy (5/14-15) at St. Mary's University.
