Ward, Wolke lead Auggies at Holst Invite

MEET RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- Rick Wolke (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn.) recorded two top-three finishes and an NCAA championships provisional qualifying time, while Nick Ward (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) recorded an outdoor season-best in the 200-meter dash and long jump, leading the Augsburg College men's track and field team at the Concordia-St. Paul Holst Invitational on Wednesday afternoon. No team results were recorded at the invitational.

Wolke recorded a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.25 seconds, while also registering a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash, recording an outdoor season-best time of 48.29 seconds. Wolke's 400 time is the third-fastest time among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference participants in the event this season, and ranks eighth nationally among NCAA Division III participants.

Ward captured a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter event, recording an outdoor season-best time of 22.63 seconds, while also recording a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash, and a third-place finish in the long jump. Ward's 6.76-meter (22-feet-2.25) distance is tops among MIAC participants in the long jump this season.

James Strand (SR, Brainerd, Minn.) recorded a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 55.24. Strand's time is the fourth-fastest time recorded among MIAC participants in the outdoor season.

Matthew Schafer (FY, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) recorded a first place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.30.

The Auggies are off until May 5, when they return to action at the University of St. Thomas Twilight Meet in St. Paul.
