DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Augsburg College women's 400-meter relay squad set school records in back-to-back races, achieving an NCAA championships provisional qualifying time with a sixth-place finish of the finals at the prestigious Drake Relays over the weekend at Drake Stadium.

On Friday, the Auggie women's 800-meter relay squad also shattered the school record in finishing fifth in the college division (Division II, Division III and NAIA schools), as part of a solid weekend for the relay teams.

In the 400-meter relay finals on Saturday, the squad of Whitney Holman (SR, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), Ashley Carney (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS), Chelsey Rice (JR, Foreston, Minn./Milaca HS) and Shanek Telphia (FY, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS) set a school record for the fourth time this season and second day in a row, finishing in 48.40 seconds for a sixth-place finish in the college division.

The time is now the fastest among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams in the event this season, and eclipsed the NCAA Division III championships provisional qualifying time of 48.65 seconds. The automatic qualifying time for the national meet is 47.15 seconds.

The relay squad also set a school record in the preliminaries on Friday, running in 48.96 seconds to place third. The preliminary time was the eighth-best of the 35 schools competing in the college division event and third-fastest of the Division III schools in the event, behind Wartburg (Iowa) and Illinois Wesleyan.
