Auggie women compete at NCAA Regional

RESULTS

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Battling through a windy, blustery and rainy day at the Max Cross Country Course, the Augsburg College women's cross country team concluded its 2010 season at the NCAA Division III Central Regional Saturday afternoon at Wartburg College. Despite the cold and wet weather, three Augsburg runners recorded personal-best times, as the Auggies ran to a 23rd-place finish at the event.

Augsburg was led by Shayla Fulford (FY, Perham, Minn.), who finished in 108th place, recording a personal-best time of 24:49.4 over the 6,000-meter course. Fulford's time was over a minute faster than she recorded at the MIAC championships two weeks ago.

The next finisher for Augsburg was Kacie Bahr (JR, Brainerd, Minn.), who finished the race with a personal-best time of 25:28.5. Bahr's time marks the fastest 6,000-meter race time she has recorded in Augsburg career, and is almost 50 seconds faster than she recorded at last year's regional.

Newcomer Anika Clark (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) finished third for Augsburg, recording a time of 25:44.7. Clark has finished as one of the Auggies top three runners in each of the team's eight races this season.

Rounding out the top five for Augsburg were Jennifer Pulscher (JR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty HS) and Haley Diem (SO, Stillwater, Minn.). Pulscher finished the race with a time of 26:12.0, while Diem recorded a time of 26:42.0. Pulscher's time is just under a minute faster than her time at last year's regional, while Diem's time is over a minute-and-a-half faster than she recorded at the MIAC championships two weeks ago.

Also competing for Augsburg were runners Adrienne Young (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) and Carissa Miller (SO, Woodbury, Minn.) who recorded times of 29:25.6 and 29:29.6 respectively. Miller's time marks a personal-best in a 6,000-meter race.

The NCAA Division III Central Regional marks the final meet of the season for the Augsburg women's cross country team. The Auggies do not lose any runners to graduation this season, and will return a more experienced and seasoned team in 2011.
