Ward continues to lead Auggies

MEET RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Nick Ward (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) recorded three top-two finishes to lead the Augsburg College men's track and field team at the Hamline University Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Ward recorded top honors in both the 100-meters and the long jump and claimed a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Ward met an NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time in the 100-meters with a 10.79 clocking and recorded a season-best 6.86 meters (22-6.25) to finish first in the long jump. Ward was the top Division III finisher in the 200-meters, coming in second overall with a time of 22.29 seconds.

In addition to Ward, the Auggies had two other top-10 finishes in the 200-meters. Rick Wolke (JR, Belle Plaine, Minn.) finished in fifth-place with a time of 22.48, while Joe Arnold (JR, Grand Rapids, Minn.) came in ninth with a 22.73 clocking.

In the 400-meters Arnold and Wolke also recorded top-10 finishes. Arnold came in third with a time of 49.78, while Wolke finished eighth with a 50.51 clocking.

Shane Pantila (SR, St. Michael, Minn./SM-Albertville HS) earned an event win in the triple jump with a distance of 14.04 meters (46-0.75), recording a season-best mark. Emmanuel Marcellino (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) claimed a third-place finish in the triple with a mark of 13.59 meters (44-7), also a season-best distance.

Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (4/9) when it travels to River Falls, Wis. To take part in the UW-Riverfalls Invitational.
