Telphia leads Auggies at Hamline Invitational

MEET RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Shanek Telphia (SO, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS) led the Augsburg College women's track and field team with wins in the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Hamline University Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Auggie sprinters continued their strong season placing three in the top-10 in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. In the 100 meters, Telphia claimed top honors with a time of 12.50 seconds, while Ashley Carney (SO, Lakeville, Minn./South HS) finished third (12.69) and Katie Vrieze (SR, Richfield, Minn.) finished ninth (12.94). Carney's time was a career-best in the event.

At the 200-meter distance, Telphia again claimed top honors with a NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time of 25.04 seconds. Vrieze finished fifth in the event with a time of 25.89, while Carney came in ninth in 26.59.

The Augsburg 400-meter relay team claimed a second place finish with a time of 49.28. Other top finishes for the Auggies included Caroline Senungi (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) recording a season-best 15.34 clocking in the 100-meter hurdles to finish third and Brittany Tuberg (SO, Apple Valley, Minn.) clearing a height of 3.10 meters (10-2) in the pole vault, good for eighth place.

The Augsburg women's track and field team returns to action on Saturday (4/9) when it travels to River Falls, Wis. to take part in the UW-River Falls Invitational.
