DELAWARE, Ohio -- Augsburg College's Shanek Telphia (SO, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS) earned her first career All-America honors and will compete for the national championship in the women's 200-meter dash, as she qualified for the finals in the event on Thursday evening at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Entering the field with the 16th-fastest time of the 26 runners in the event, Telphia ran a season-best 25.03 seconds for the seventh-fastest time in the four preliminary heats of the 200-meter dash on Thursday. The top eight qualifiers from the preliminaries will compete in the finals on Saturday (5/28) at 4:15 p.m. (Eastern time) and earn All-American honors.

Telphia is competing in her third NCAA championships. Last season, she competed at the NCAA indoor championships in the women's 400-meter dash, while competing as part of the 400-meter relay in the NCAA outdoor championships. This will be her first NCAA finals appearance.

With her finals appearance, Telphia has claimed Augsburg's 31st women's track and field All-American honor, and the team's first since the 2006 season. Augsburg has had 59 qualifiers for women's track and field national competition in school history (54 in NCAA competition since 1985, five in NAIA competition in 1982-83).
