27 Auggies named Academic All-MIAC

AUGSBURG 2010-11 FALL ACADEMIC ALL-MIAC


MINNEAPOLIS -- A total of 27 Augsburg College student-athletes earned Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors from winter and spring sports, it was announced recently by the conference office. The 27 honorees (26 athletes, with one earning honors in two sports) is two more than than Augsburg earned a year ago.

Combined with honorees from fall sports, a total of 52 Augsburg student-athletes (49 athletes, with one earning honors in two sports and one earning honors in three sports) earned Academic All-MIAC honors in the 2010-11 school year.

Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior (transfers must have spent a full year at their current school) with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale to qualify for MIAC Academic All-Conference recognition. Athletically, student-athletes in basketball, hockey, baseball and softball must compete in 50 percent of their team's varsity regular season contests. Track and field athletes must finish in the top eight individually (top three in relay events) in conference championship events to be eligible, while swimming and diving student-athletes must qualify for conference finals to be eligible.
