NORTHFIELD, Minn. — This was supposed to be Hunter Bailey’s redemption race. This five-kilometer race was the Winona Senior High School junior’s chance to redo 2012’s state race, when an iron deficiency diagnosis two weeks prior to the meet held him back.(via Winona Daily News)

NORTHFIELD — As the Annandale girls cross country team waited for the Class A official results to be posted, Scott Massman likened the situation to a scene in a delivery room. “It’s like waiting for a child to be born,” said Massman, the Cardinals’ coach. “You think you did what you needed to do and you’ve prepared for it. NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Perham’s Keeghan Hurley won the Minnesota Class 1A individual cross country title in ideal weather conditions and led the Yellowjackets to their second straight – and fifth overall – state championship in their 12th consecutive appearance at St. Olaf. Hurley joins his father, Don, as the first-ever father-son duo to win state cross country titles. Don was a back-to-back state champion in 1976-77.(via www.inforum.com)
