MSHSL Class A State Meet

Class A Girl's Race

Temperatures warmed to the upper 40s for the afternoon races at the state meet, nearly ideal race temps for the Class A races.  On the girl's side Emi Trost, Cannon Falls, finally gets the chance to move from being a two-time runner up to the 2013 state champion, finishing the 4k course with a time of 14:40.3.  Mary Naas, St. Paul Academy & Summit, claims the runner-up title with a time of 14:50.5, followed by Becca Wilkin of Trinity School at River Ridge, postinhg a 14:52.3.

Annandale takes home the team title with 85 points.  Annandale's top two runners, Elizabeth Schlafke and Courtney Alama, finishing in 4th and 5th respectively.  Alaysia Freetly helped lead Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson Boyd to a second place finish with 113 points, followed by Perham with 138 points.

Class A Boy's Race

On the boy's side, there was little question about who would bring home the team championship and, perhaps, the individual title.  Keeghan Hurley, Perham, pulled away late in the race to take the win and write a piece of history as the state's only father-son state cross country champion duo.  Shane Streich, Waseca, finished as the state runner-up, followed by Ian Torchia, Rochester Lourdes, in third.

Perham posted an impressive team finish with 52 points to earn the back-to-back team championship.  Mounds Park Academy finished as the state runners-up with a total of 111 points followed by St. Cloud Cathedral in third with a total of 145 points.

Shane Streich, Waseca, finishes as state runner-up in 15:50.6.

Ian Torchia, Rochester Lourdes, finishes third with a time of 15:56.4.
