The XC Action You Need To Know From This Weekend (9-2)

It was a busy weekend of action nationally in cross country.

And one of the craziest stretches of terrain came at the fifth annual DDD Invitational in Estero, Florida, where runners had to endure ankle deep water for about 100 meters at one of the state's more difficult courses.

As Texas was hit with Hurricane Harvey this past week, the southwestern coast of Florida was also hit with heavy rainfall and numerous floods.

Named after the late Jeff Sommer -- the former Estero (Florida) High cross country and track coach who suffered a heart attack in 2015 while coaching a state championship winning relay team before passing -- the course combines steep hills, muddy terrain, sand pits, hay bails, and criss-cross turns.

Twenty-three performances reset the best times in the nation in the girls field, while 21 were set in the boys field.
