The Calm Before The Storm - Monday Meets

Camden Conference Championships

Weather: 68 degrees, no clouds, some wind, humid

BOYS

Top Teams: Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd (20 points), Canby/Minneota (55), Lakeview (88)

Top Individuals: Keiser Freetly (LQPV/DB, 16:12), Mikey Kvaal (LQPV/DB, 16:55), Ezekiel Sather (LQPV/DB, 17:19), Rory Schackelford (Yellow Medicine East, 17:33), Anthony Wollum (Canby/Minnesota, 17:39)

The Skinny: One of Class A's best teams, Lac qui Parle Valley will almost certainly dominate this competition. Seven of the top ten season bests of all the runners in the conference comes from their team, and while Canby/Minneota has admirable talent, they simply don't have enough firepower to overcome LQPV/DB. Individually, the race if Keiser Freetly's to lose, and while teammate Mikey Kvaal could finish close to him (or get pulled along), It is difficult to see Kvall ahead of Freetly.

GIRLS

Top Teams: Canby/Minneota (29 points), Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd (38), Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (61).

Top Individuals: Grace Drietz (Canby/Minneota, 19:39), Jordan Sterud (LQPV/DB, 19:49), Mckenzie Ruether (Canby/Minneota, 20:26), Isabel Schirm (LQPV/DB, 20:42)

The Skinny: This competition will certainly be far closer than the boys, both individually as as teams. LQPV/DB comes in ranked 12th in Class A, but Canby/Minneota is just coming off a season-best showing at the Adrian Invitational where they were competitive with #11-ranked Luverne. There are greater implications than this meet warpped up in this battle too, as those three aformentioned teams will be the three biggest teams to watch in Section 3A. Individually, the battle will ought to be a thrillfest between All-State miler Grace Drietz and four-time XC qualifier Jordan Sterud, and while a few of their teammates may poke their noses in, one of those two will almost certainly ear the Camden Conference Crown.
