Ten Class AA Boys Individuals to Watch Out For in 2018

Acer Iverson, Roseville, Sr

Acer Iverson is undoubtedly one of the best distance runners in Minnesota as a result of his consistency and exponential growth. Last fall, Acer won his first 6 meets, all of which had solid competition, before finishing as runner-up in the Class AA State Meet, 9 seconds off champion Khalid Hussein. He continued on to compete at the Nike Heartland Regional meet, where he ran a massive PR of 15:04.10, qualifying him as an individual for Nike Cross Nationals. There, he finished as the 81st fastest runner in the nation and the 36th-highest finishing returner for this fall. In the spring, after dealing with a bike accident in April, Acer peaked at the right time, taking 4th at State in the 3200m (in a big PR of 9:13.44) and 6th in the 1600m. And another thing Acer has going for himself - the last three juniors to finish runner-up at the State Cross Country Meet have all gone on to win the following year, and there's no doubt Iverson has a solid chance to keep that streak going.
