Mora And Norwood Are Sites Of Big Invitationals Today

PREVIEW

Weather: 80s, sunny, strong winds

BOYS

Virtual Meet Projection: Saint Cloud Cathedral (26), Annandale (45), Litchfield (83)

Top Individuals: Ben Ammermann (Litchfield, 17:15), Rishi Gulati (Saint Cloud Cathedral, 17:39), Cade Anderson (Saint Cloud Cathedral, 17:40), Payton Lund (Annandale, 17:51)

The Skinny: Saint Cloud Cathedral is sitting tenth in the Class A rankings and only wish to move up from there. They already won the Milaca Early Bird Invite and came in second at the Holdingford Invite this season. Another win today would help to build their confidence as they continue their chase for not only a state championship berth but a top ten team finish. Last year, they had no one qualify for the state meet so a team appearance would be a huge feat this year. Ben Ammerman is the top individual at this race. He is yet to open his 2018 season but ran a 1600m personal best during the track season so he is likely to see improvement this season. He has never won an individual cross country title so to start his season out with a win would be a great accomplishment.

GIRLS

Virtual Meet Projection: Annandale (21), Eden Valley-Watkins (38)

Top Individuals: Emma Fashant (Annandale, 19:07), Keily Wheeler (Annandale, 20:23), Joslyn Marquette (Annandale, 20:23), Libby Yozamp (Eden Valley-Watkins, 20:24)

The Skinny: The home team from Annandale is projected to be the top team today. This is unsurprising because they are ranked 12th in Class A. They showed some vulnerability at the Monticello Invitational where they finished far behind in sixth. With some very low scorers at this meet, they still should be able to grab the win ahead of Eden Valley-Watkins. Emma Fashant of Annandale will be looking to grab her first win of the season. She was the Section 5A champion in 2017 and went on to finish tenth at the state meet. Fashant is currently ranked eleventh in Class A.
