Mill Valley (KS)
From Shawnee, Kansas, Mill Valley High School scored just 41 points to be named State Champions as Freshman Katie Schwartzkopf dropped a time of 18:19 to take the individual title in the 6A girls race. With 2-5 runners poised to go under 19, especially at the Regionals course, Mill Valley could pull off something like St. James Academy did last year, where they-quietly and with only five runners-took fourth in a stacked field. Like Lincoln East, there is not a lot of in-state competition to compare Mill Valley to. However, that lack of outside recognition could work in their favor and enable them to surprise a lot of people on Sunday.
