    How did you first get involved with track, and what other sports have you done?

    My parents had been in track when they were in high school. I began as a seventh grader on the varsity team. I remember the night before the first day of practice I was very nervous about what was to come. Before anything began I had no idea what track was or what it consisted of. I have also participated in volleyball, basketball, and cross country. My favorite sport other than Track and Field was cross country.


    What is your favorite or most memorable competition you've ever been in?

    It took place at sections my freshman year. It was during the triple jump, where I jumped a major personal record for myself. That jump got me to State that year. I remember the boys' track coach hugged me after that moment, whom everyone tends to be scared of, and I was very surprised at that.

    Tell me a standout non-competition-related memory from your athletics career.

    On the last day of school, we always go out to one of the coach's homes for a BBQ supper. It always seems to be the best food, especially when I am hungry after practice.


    Who are some people that have been most helpful to you in your athletic career, and how have they helped you?

    My parents have given me lots of guidance throughout my athletic career. My dad especially has been there for Track and Field. He has helped to push me and to remind me that no matter how good I get at something I have to keep pushing and get better than my best. My dad has helped me get motivated for my training and focus.

    What is a challenge, or challenges, you have had to face as an athlete?

    Pushing through pain and injuries. As a team, it has been tough with getting girls in track. We have lost a good number of girls over the years and it makes it difficult for us to go out and compete as a team.


    Who might we find cheering for you at competitions?

    My parents come to cheer for me at nearly all of my competitions. My grandparents show up to the important events and to the ones they can make it to. My teammates are always there to cheer me on and ask how I am doing.


    What are your main goals for this track season?

    I would like to get out there and compete at the best of my ability and give it all I have got. I would love to make it to the State Meet for the fourth time in my career. The only way I will get there is if I work hard and focus on it.


    What are your post-graduation plans?

    I will be attending Bemidji State University next Fall, where I will be majoring in Nursing. I am also continuing my Track and Field career there, where I will like to keep improving my times and distances.


    What advice would you give to younger athletes, or athletes just starting out in track?

    Work hard in practice every moment you can get. Have fun with what you are doing.


    Do you have any specific jumping advice or tips that you would like to share?

    Always stay focused and warmed up before jumping. The approach, I have found to be the most important part of the jump. Make sure to always run up the same, and have a good take-off foot.
