Minnesota Class AA Girls Pre-Season Individual Watch List

With the departure of Grace and Lauren Ping, Tierney Wolfgram is very possibly the best female runner in Minnesota for this upcoming season. Her time of 16:48 from 2017 is the fastest ever for a Minnesota girl, her 2018 time of 17:06 is the best returning time by a big margin, and she made national headlines when she ran the Twin Cities Marathon in a phenomenal 2:40:03 last October. However, she won't be lining up at the start line of any varsity race until the NXR Heartland race due to MSHSL rules regarding her transfer from Math & Science Academy to Woodbury, and thus will not be able to win her sixth career State title this fall. She can, however, spend the season dominating JV races to prepare for what may be a prolific post-season at the national level, like Grand Rapids' Jakub Zivec in 2008.
