Katherine Geist heads into her senior year looking for a sixth straight trip to the State Meet. Since her first appearance as a 7th grader in 2014, Geist has steadily moved up in the State Meet results (with one blip in 2017) from 61st all the way to a 9th place finish last season. After posting a collection of results around the 20-minute barrier in 2017, Geist leapt forward in 2018. She broke 19 minutes six times en route to a section 8A title and 44th place at NXR in a PR time of 18:39.00, ranking 10th among class A returners. She also posted a notable 30 second victory over Ava Hill at the always challenging Swain meet in 2018. While a broken foot cut her track season short just before the State Meet, she did lower her 3200m PR to 11:08.22.
