EAST GRAND FORKS (9)
Following a runner-up finish behind Perham in section 8A, the Green Wave placed sixth place at state last fall. Cole Nowacki and Tyson Mahar return as one of the best 1-2 combos in Class A and third man Jonathan Kruegar has run 17 flat to complete a formidable trifecta of front runners. The loss of two seniors will require someone to step up and close the potentially large 1-5 split of over two minutes for EGF to stay in the sectional race and advance to state in back to back years. It appears those runners would have to emerge from a group that currently has yet to break 18 minutes. If those runners do emerge the power of their front three would make the team competitive at the state level once again.
