Meet Previews: Week Two Heats Up on Thursday

Location: Appleton Golf Course, Appleton

Weather: sunny, 70

BOYS

Virtual Meet Projections: Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd (22), Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta (68), Montevideo (88)

Individuals to Watch: Noah Stewart (MACA, 16:25), Mikey Kvaal (LQPV/DB, 16:33), Ezekiel Sather (LQPV/DB, 16:39), Griffin Johnson (LQPV/DB, 16:57)

The Skinny: After a great team performance in their opening meet at the Morris Invitational that saw them squeak out a win over West Central Area, Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd should face a big challenge getting the team win at their home invitational. Their top trio of Mikey Kvaal, Zeke Sather, and Griffin Johnson all proved their early-season shape and will look to battle each other for the top spot here. Morris Area's Noah Stewart, however, was a bit off his usual pace last week with an 8th-place 18:02 run, and will likely be eager to get back on track with a win against many of the same runners he just faced.

GIRLS

Virtual Meet Projections: Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta (40), Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd (47), Benson/KMS (107)

Individuals to Watch: Maddie Carrington (MACA, 19:49), Meredith Carrington (MACA, 20:10), Anika Fernholz (LQPV/DB, 20:21), Allie Mitteness (Benson/KMS, 20:49)

The Skinny: Morris and Lac qui Parle Valley faced off last week in Morris with MACA getting the upper hand with a 2nd-place finish and LQPV/DB coming in 38 points behind them in 3rd. This week's result will likely be closer since the meet is smaller, but the result projects to be the same. The Carrington sisters of MACA were both top-ten finishers a week ago and will try to take the top two spots here, while LQPV's Annika Fernholz (who was 29 seconds behind Meredith Carrington last week) will try to steal a win from them.
