LEFTY WRIGHT HIGH SCHOOL BOYS MAROON RACE
FULL VIRTUAL MEET
Several of last year's top maroon race individuals and none of the top four teams from last season, including maroon race champion Notre Dame (WI), will be in the field in 2019. But the race will still feature several of Minnesota's ranked class A teams and individuals along with a fun group of out of state teams. The results should make for a highly entertaining race with competitive minded programs looking to gather big meet experience for a post-season run.
River Falls (WI) projects as the top team in the maroon race with a pair of potential top ten individuals keeping their team score low despite a 75 second split. Germantown (WI) also projects favorably with the top individual, senior Ben Schnoor (4th fastest in WI) and a chance for two runners in the top ten.
Brandon Valley (SD) shows well in the virtual meet based on three in the top 26 but have a large 1-5 split in our data that has to improve for them to have a shot in breaking into the top two. Eau Claire Memorial (WI) does well based off a 51 second split but lacks a low enough front runner to keep pace in the season best results.
Elk River shows up fifth in our virtual meet with a 62 second split and a 17:20 average, led by senior Adam Boeckermann. Class A no. 6 ranked Nova Classical and no. 12 East Grand Forks also look to be strong candidates for a top seven finish.
Blaine senior Tyler Anderson is the top returning finisher from last season's maroon race when he was 13th with a 17:07 and he projects 21st this year with a season best 16:40.0. East Grand Forks junior Tyson Mahar comes in with the second fastest season best, a 15:48.5 PR set at the Moorhead Twilight. EGF senior Cole Nowacki has run 16:11 this season and should compete for a top ten spot as well. Benilde Saint Margaret senior Peter Lynch is projected sixth on Saturday with a pair of meet wins and a 15:57.9 PR on his resume this season. Champlin Park senior Connor Preston has run 16:17.6 this season, a career best and is projecting tenth in the virtual meet data.
