Scheller Named Gatorade Boys Minnesota XC Runner of the Year

Chanhassen senior Nick Scheller was announced as the 2019 Gatorade Minnesota Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year on Monday. Scheller is the first Storm runner to receive the accolade that also makes him a finalist for the Gatorade National Cross Country Runner of the Year Award.

Scheller concluded his outstanding high school cross country career with a series of impressive post-season races that included winning NXR Heartland in a PR 15:17.18 and a 31st place finish at NXR (15:38.40), the highest by any Heartland qualifier.

Scheller was second in the MSHSL Class AA State Championship and also earned a 34th place result at Foot Locker Cross Country Midwest Regionals in the weekend between NXR and NXN. He also claimed victories at the Bauman-Rovn Invite, Jefferson Jaguar Challenge, Metro West Conference Championship and Section 2AA Championship.

Away from running, he volunteers with the Civil Air Patrol and as a youth ski coach while maintaining a 3.81 GPA in the classroom.

Scheller has verbally committed to run track and cross country at the United States Air Force Academy next year.
