Annandale's Salvador Wirth Runs Age Group World Record

Annandale's very own Salvador Wirth set an age-group world record for the half-marathon at 13 years old. Wirth ran in the Brookings Hald Marathon in South Dakota on and finished in second with a time of 1:16:12 to beat the old record set by Australian Jacob Bragg back in 2013 (1:18:53). Wirth also happened to finish only 28 seconds behind first place.

Wirth is in the middle of his eighth-grade season for the Annandale Cardinals. He has won the first two races of his season at Tri meets hosted by Annandale. He PR'd on September 17th with a time of 16:21.00. Last season as a seventh-grader he finished 50th at the MSHSL Class A State Championships.

Wirth has the fastest 5k time in the state this year by an eighth-grader, finishing 34 seconds ahead of Jordan Hage in second. His 16:21 5k time is also the third fastest in the country for an eighth-grader (note not all states allow middle schoolers to run).
