Tierney Wolfgram Named USATF Athlete of the Week

Former Woodbury High School standout and current University of Nevada freshman Tierney Wolfgram was named the USATF Athlete of the Week for breaking the U.S. women's junior record in the marathon.

Running in the Parkway Marathon in Sacramento, California, and paced by Adam Sjolund and Carson Leavitt who also run for Nevada, Wolfgram was able to finish in 2:31:49 for a new American record. The previous record was held by Cathy Schiro who ran a 2:34:24 way back in 1984 when she was 16.

The event was specifically created for a record attempt and only had three participants. The three participants were needed so that the event could be sanctioned under USATF standards.

Wolfgram joined Nevada this season after graduating from high school a year early. She is yet to compete in an event for Nevada since fall sports were pushed to the spring due to COVID-19. Nevada has not released its schedule for the spring yet.
