Elliott McArthur of Mounds View High School started off his 2021 Track & Field season with a statement, dropping a 4:15.34 mile at the VA Showcase. This is a PR in the indoor or outdoor 1600m/mile for McArthur by 7 seconds (for a sanctioned race).

McArthur finished only behind Idaho phenom Nathan Green, and fellow sophomore and Maryland standout Antonio Camacho-Bucks.
Based on our database this is the fastest indoor 1600m or mile by a Minnesota high school boy all-time. He bested 2001 graduate Nick Schneiders performance from the 2001 Millrose Games. Check out the 1600 rankings here.
