Poll: Will the St. Olaf Meet Record Get Broken in 2022?

---

While the season normally starts a week before the meet, the St. Olaf High School Showcase is the big kick-off for that fall cross country season and this season is no exception! The 2022 Showcase will feature many of the state's best teams and runners across all classes, all looking to assert their dominance early in the season.

The meet this year will include 9 preseason MSHSCA ranked boys teams across all classes and 14 ranked boys runners. On the girl's side, we have 9 ranked girl's teams and 18 ranked girl's runners.

With that much elite talent at one meet, there is a chance that the meet record might be broken. Those records are currently held by Sam Scott and Emily Covert.

Scott set the meet record last year with a time of 15:35.60 to break Emmet Anderson's mark of 15:44.50. The top five boys from 2021 meet all broke the record and the top four finishers from last year all return this fall. There are 6 boys in the field who have a PR faster than Scott's time of 15:35.60, including Scott.

Covert has held the girls record since 2018 when she ran a 5K time of 17: 07.90 to beat Tierney Wolfgram by 20 seconds. She beat the old record held by Grace Ping the year before when she ran 17:45. Only one girl in the field us close to Covert's meet record time and that is Sydney Drevlow who owns a 5K PR of 17:10.70 from last fall.

Vote below if you think either the St. Olaf High School Showcase boys or girls meet record will be broken!
