Introducing Your MN Boys Runner of the Year Candidates

Hamza Mohamed
Wayzata High School

---

Wayzata's Hamza Mohamed led the Wayzata boys back to Team Nationals for the first time since 2017 (note the 2021 meet was canceled, Wayzata qualified) and also led them to their 2nd straight Class AAA state title in Minnesota. He was their #1 runner for every meet after the St. Olaf High School Showcase and helped them finish the season with five straight meet wins after the Roy Griak.

Mohamed set a new personal best time of 15:17.30 at the Team Heartland Regional where he finished 20th overall and helped Wayzata to their 8th Heartland title and 9th Team Nationals berth overall.

Aside from leading the Wayzata boys to success this season, Mohamed is now one of the fastest runners in Wayzata's storied history. He ranks as the 5th fastest Wayzata runner ever for the 5K, only behind three former state XC champions and a runner-up finisher in Andrew Brandt.
