Telphia records NCAA qualifying time

MEET RESULTS

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Augsburg College sprinter Shanek Telphia (FY, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS) recorded an NCAA outdoor national championships provisional qualifying time of 25.16 seconds in the 200-meter dash to finish in second place at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday afternoon. No team results were recorded at the meet.

Telphia's time in the 200 is the fastest recorded time in the MIAC this season, and is the 25th fastest time recorded among NCAA Division III participants this season, according to the national outdoor performance lists on the Raceberry Jam website. Telphia also owns the third-fastest time among MIAC participants in the 100-meter dash this season. 

Ashley Carney (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) finished ninth in the 200-meter dash, recording a season-best time of 26.03.

Telphia and Carney are also part of Augsburg's 400-reter relay team, with Whitney Holman () and Katie Vrieze (), which has an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 47.88 seconds, the 15th-fastest time among Division III runners.

Telphia and the relay squad will find out on Sunday if they will move on to compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, May 27-29.
