ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Augsburg College sprinters
Whitney Holman (SR, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS),
Shanek Telphia (FY, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS),
Ashley Carney (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS), and
Katie Vrieze (JR, Richfield, Minn.) took the top four spots in the 100-meter dash at the Hamline University Meet of the UnSaintly on Saturday afternoon. No team results were recorded.
Holman recorded a time of 12.49 seconds to finish .01 seconds in front of Telphia. Carney finished in third place with a time of 12.78 seconds. Vrieze finished in fourth place, recording a season-best time of 12.78 seconds.
In addition to her fourth-place finish in the 100, Vrieze recorded a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a blistering time of 25.69 seconds. Vrieze's 200 time is the third-fastest recorded among MIAC participants in the event this season.
Hurdler
Caroline Senungi (JR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) recorded a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 15.91 seconds.
Leading the Auggies in the field events was thrower
Erin Leyden (JR, Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS). Leyden recorded season-best efforts in the hammer throw and shot put to finish in third and seventh places, respectively.
The Augsburg relay teams also performed well, as the 400-meter relay won the event with a time of 48.92 seconds. The Augsburg 1,600 meter relay team placed fifth, recording a time of 4:09.38.
The Auggies next compete at the MIAC outdoor championships on Friday and Saturday (5/14-15) at St. Mary's University.
