Auggie relay sets school record

MEET RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- The Augsburg College women's track and field 400-meter relay team set a school record for the fifth time this season, recording a time of 48.18 seconds to finish in second place at the Concordia-St. Paul Holst Invitational Wednesday afternoon. No team results were recorded at the meet.

The 400-meter relay team of Whitney Holman (SR, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), Ashley Carney (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS), Chelsey Rice (JR, Foreston, Minn./Milaca HS), Shanek Telphia (FY, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS) improved upon their NCAA championship provisional qualifying time, as well as the second-fastest time among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams in the event this season and the tenth fastest time nationally among NCAA division three relay teams.

In addition to her performance in the 400-meter relay, Holman also recorded a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 12.97 seconds. Three other Auggies recorded top-six finishes in the 100-meter event, as Carney finished in fourth place, Katie Vrieze (JR, Richfield, Minn./Richfield HS) in fifth place, and Rice in sixth.  

In the 200-meter dash, Telphia recorded a first-place finish with a time of 25.80.

Erin Leyden (JR, Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS) recorded a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a season best distance of 42.40 meters. Leyden's distance is the tenth best in the MIAC this season. 

Distance runner Jennifer Pulscher (SO, Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty HS) recorded a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.46.

Pole vaulter Brittany Tuberg (FY, Apple Valley, Minn.) finished in second place, recording a height of 3.20 meters (10-feet-2.25). 

The Auggies are off until next Wednesday (5/5) when they return to action at the University of St. Thomas Twilight Meet.
