The 2025 outdoor season gave Minnesota's sprinters and hurdlers plenty to build on. From the 100m to the 300m hurdles, this group of returners posted marks that demand attention heading into the spring.
Here's a look at ten who stood out among the contenders!

Top Returning Sprinters & Hurdlers:
Emma Kvant (Saint Michael-Albertville, 2026):
The 400m belongs to Kvant among all returning girls in the state, where her 53.63 sets the standard. But she's also a serious threat in the 200m and 100m, where she ran 24.16 and 11.95, respectively.
Jaxon Ziebarth (Cambridge-Isanti, 2026):
Ziebarth's 10.51 in the 100m is the fastest mark among all returning boys in the state, and his 21.42 in the 200m shows he's not a one-event sprinter.
Maddyn Greenway (Providence Academy, 2026):
No returning girl in the state left their mark on both hurdles events the way Greenway did, posting a 42.57 in the 300m hurdles and 14.60 in the 100m hurdles.
Lane Hoffman (Hastings, 2026):
Hoffman's 21.22 in the 200m leads all returning boys in the state, and his 10.77 in the 100m and 48.99 in the 400m round out a three-event sprint profile that few other returners can match.
Elizabeth Tuttle (Saint Paul Academy, 2026):
One of the top sprinters in the state, Tuttle's 14.15 PR in the 100m hurdles leads all returning girls in the state, and her 43.22 in the 300m hurdles holds up well, too.
Sebastian Strauss (Hastings, 2026):
Strauss's 47.56 in the 400m is the fastest mark among all returning boys in the state by more than a second, but his 21.62 in the 200m shows he has range beyond the quarter mile.
Brynn Bakken (Hills-Beaver Creek, 2027):
Bakken's fastest result last year was her 24.79 200m PR, set in the prelims at the state meet. But despite not matching her 100m PR - 11.88, set in 2024 - Bakken returns as the defending state champion in the 100m.
Lorenzo Hampton III (Fridley, 2026):
Hampton's 14.01 in the 110m hurdles leads all returning boys in the state, and his 37.95 in the 300m hurdles backs it up.
Allison Richter (Mounds View, 2028):
Both of Richter's marks came as a freshman. Her 14.63 in the 100m hurdles and 43.62 in the 300m hurdles still rank among the strongest posted by any returning girl in the state.
Aaron Geiken (Farmington, 2027):
