NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Augsburg College men's cross country team competed at the St. Olaf College Invitational Saturday morning and recorded a ninth-place team finish on the day. The race marked the first 8,000-meter competition for the Auggies this season.
Matt Schafer (SO, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) was the top Augsburg performer in the meet, recording a 17th-place finish with a time of 26:55.
Joe Arnold (JR, Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished in 43rd place with a time of 27:39, and
Geoffrey Gillmor (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) finished in 53rd place with a time of 27:55.
The St. Olaf meet marked the first collegiate competition for Augsburg runners
Micheale Tesema (FY, Burnsville, Minn.) and
Dakota Darkstar (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS), who finished in 55th and 81st places, respectively.
The Auggies next scheduled competition is set for Oct. 1 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugold Open.
