Cross Country Competes at Home Invite

Renee Crepeau
On an unseasonable warm October afternoon, the St. Kate's cross country team hosted their final home meet of the season. The Wildcats finished fifth with 141 points. They were again led by sophomore Jessica Rogers, who finished 22nd in the team standings with a time of 16:31.

Rogers' finishing time was a 35 second improvement over the same course the team raced to start the year one month ago, and helped the Wildcats place their top five runners within :46 seconds of one another.

Also dropping significant time from the early September meet to today was the Wildcats #2 finisher, Renee Crepeau. Crepeau finished 25th in a time that was exactly one minute faster than what she ran four weeks ago.

First year Kristina Poss continued her strong freshman season and was the #3 runner for the team, just ahead of junior Tamar Billiet. Billiet's time of 16:55 was a 52 second improvement over her time earlier in the season.

Another first year, Sarah Howe, rounded out the scoring for St. Kate's. She finished 39th in the team standings and was 26 seconds faster than her previous time on this course.

The Wildcats return to racing next weekend at the Tori Neubauer Inviational in West Salem, Wis. It will be the team's final tune-up before competing in the MIAC championships.
