Section 4A Boys: Minnehaha Acad & Holy Family Earn State Trips/Ferlic & Clark break course record

Mason Ferlic of MPA shatters the course record running a 15:36 on a cold windy day and somewhat soggy course. Brandon Clark of The Blake School also broke the previous record course record running a 16:04. These two runners were so far out in front, the lead biker decided midway through the race to get behind them.

The team race included three teams ranked in the top seven and approximately 20 runners vying for the final 8 individual athletes.  At the first mile, approximately 20 runners were in the second pack (third place runner leading the pack), including multiple runners from six schools.  At the second hill approximately 2 miles into the race, a group of three runners broke away from the strung out pack led by Jensen Orlow of Holy Family, Jacob Siekmeier of Math & Science, and Luke Brown of Minnehaha Academy.  The team race at this point was clearly between the three top ranked teams, Minnehaha Academy (in their new black uniforms), Holy Family Catholic, and Glencoe-Silver Lake.

At the finish, Minnehaha Academy’s depth won the race with a score of 70 (5-9-10-18-28) followed by Holy Family Catholic at 97 (4-6-15-32-40).  Glencoe Silver-Lake finishes an excellent season with a third place finish (115 points; 11-12-23-24-45).

After Ferlic and Clark, the finishers in order were Jacob Siekmeier (16:42), Jensen Orlow (16:50), Luke Brown (16:54), Joe Salz of Holy Family Catholic (17:02), Matt McFarland of The Blake School (17:07), Steven Zeller of Concordia Academy (17:08), Jacob Eggers of Minnehaha Academy (17:11), and Ethan Wagner of Minnehaha Academy (17:13).   Jake Burr and Stephen Delwiche of Glencoe-Silver Lake finished 11th and 12th.
