MEET RESULTS
NORTHFIELD, Minn.-- The Augsburg College women's track and field 800-meter relay team set a school-record time of 1:43.83 en route to a first-place finish at the St. Olaf College Ole Open Friday night. No team results were recorded at the meet.
The 800-meter relay team --
Ashley Carney (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS)
Dawn Flowers (FY, Saint Paul, Minn./Arlington Senior HS)
Shanek Telphia (SO, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS) and
Katie Vrieze (SR, Richfield, Minn.) -- smashed the previous school record by almost five seconds, and now own the fastest 800-meter relay time among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams this season.
In addition to her performance in the relays, Telphia also recorded a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 25.80 seconds. Telphia's time currently ranks as the fastest recorded by a MIAC competitor in the event this season.
Two other Auggies recorded top-six finishes in the 200-meter event, as Vrieze finished fourth with a season-best time of 26.74 seconds and Flowers finished sixth with a season-best time of 27.02 seconds. Vrieze added a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.79 seconds, while Flowers added another sixth-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a season-best time of 7.64 seconds.
Ashley Carney added a third-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a season best time of 7.49 seconds. Carney's time is currently the sixth-fastest among MIAC competitors this season.
Kacie Bahr (JR, Brainerd, Minn.) recorded a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash, finishing with a season best time of 1:02.89.
Caroline Senungi (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) recorded a third-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles, while recording a season best time of 8.73 seconds in the preliminary race. Senungi's time is currently the fourth-fastest among MIAC competitiors this season.
In the field events, pole vaulter
Brittany Tuberg (SO, Apple Valley, Minn.) posted her best performance of the season as she finished in fourth-place with a heigth of 3.19 meters (10-feet-5.75).
Telphia added a fifth-place finish in the long jump while recording a season best distance of 5.06 meters (16-feet-7.25). Telphia's distance ranks as the fifth-best in the MIAC this season.
The Ole Open marked the Auggies final tuneup before the MIAC Indoor Championships March 3-5 at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. Championship schedules and information can be found
