SATURDAY MEET RESULTS
RIVER FALLS, Wis.-- The Augsburg College womens 4x100 meter relay set an NCAA provisional and season-best time en route to a first-place finish in the event at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcon Invitational Saturday afternoon. As a team, Augsburg finished with a total of 28 points to finish in 14th place.
The 4x100 meter relay team which consisted of
Dawn Flowers (FY, Saint Paul, Minn./Arlington HS)
Ashley Carney (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS)
Katie Vrieze (SR, Richfield, Minn.) and
Shanek Telphia (SO, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS) recorded a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 48.48 seconds, and marks a season best for the team. The Auggies are the defending MIAC champions in the 4x100 meter race, and qualified for the NCAA Division III national championships in the event last season.
In the individual events, two Augsburg sprinters recorded top-five finishes in the 100-meter dash, as
Shanek Telphia finished in third-place with a time of 12.67 seconds, while teammate
Ashley Carney finished in fifth-place with a time of 12.75 seconds.
In the 200-meter dash,
Katie Vrieze finished in fifth-place, clocking a time of 26.14 seconds, while teammate
Dawn Flowers recorded a ninth-place finish with a time of 26.54 seconds.
Vrieze also added an 11th-place finish in the 400-meter dash, recording a time of 1:00.87.
In the 100-meter hurdles,
Caroline Senungi (SR, Shoreview, Minn /Mounds View HS) finished in 12th-place with a time of 16.16 seconds.
Also performing well for Augsburg were distance runners
Haley Diem (SO, Stillwater, Minn.) and
Jennifer Pulscher (JR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty HS). Diem recorded a time of 2:32.64 in the 800-meter run, while Pulscher raced to a 13th-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase event.
In the field events,
Kandace Bostick (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Burnsville HS) finished 10th in the long jump with a distance of 4.98 meters (16-04 1/4) while pole vaulter
Brittany Tuberg (SO, Apple Valley, Minn.) finished in 15th-place with a height of 3.05 meters (10-0).
Augsburg returns to action next weekend (4/16) in St. Paul, Minn. at the Holst Invitational hosted by Concordia-St. Paul University.
