MEET RESULTS
ST. PAUL, Minn.--The Augsburg College women's 4x100 meter relay team clocked a time of 49.03 seconds to take first place at the Hamline University Twilight Meet Wednesday evening.
The win marks the second time the 4x100 team has won the event during the 2011 outdoor season. The relay team, which consisted of
Kandace Bostick (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Burnsville HS),
Ashley Carney (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS),
Katie Vrieze (SR, Richfield, Minn.), and
Shanek Telphia (SO, Chicago, Ill./Gage Park HS) currently owns the fastest time in the MIAC this season, and has already recorded an NCAA national championship provisional time.
Other top performers for Augsburg included middle distance runner
Haley Diem (SO, Stillwater, Minn.) who recorded a third-place finish in the 800-meter run. Diem's time of 2:25.55 marked her fastest perfomance of the season.
Jennifer Pulscher (JR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty HS) also recorded a season-best performance at Hamline, clocking a time of 12:52.02 in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Shayla Fulford (FY, Perham, Minn.) recorded a season-best time of 20:27.02 to finish seventh in the 5000-meter run.
In the field events, pole vaulter
Brittany Tuberg (SO, Apple Valley, Minn.) took second in the pole vault competiton, recording a height of 3.25 meters (10-8). Tuberg currently owns the fourth-best mark among MIAC competitors this season.
Augsburg thrower
Erin Leyden (SR, Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS) continued her solid performance throughout the season, as she took fourth in both the shot put and hammer throw competitions. Both of Leyden's distances marked season best performances, while her distance of 43.95 meters (144-02) in the hammer throw marks the sixth-best mark in the conference this season.
The Auggies return to action this weekend, as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the annual Drake University Relays. The 102nd annual Drake Relays, known as "America's Athletic Classic," is considered one of the most prestigious track and field meets in the country. More than 7,200 college, high school and amateur athletes are expected to compete at the event, including 1,164 female collegiate athletic athletes from 109 schools.
