Minnesota Future Stars: Phenomenal Freshman

Boys

At the Big 9 Track and Field Championships, Xavier Zawaira of Rochester Century High School took runner-up in the boys' 400m dash. The freshman clocked a blistering 50.95 to set a new personal best by almost 2 seconds and now leads all freshmen over this distance.

In the high jump, the Minnesota freshman leader is Kaiden Alcock of Cambridge-Isanti High School. At the Mississippi 8 Conference Championships, Alcock leaped over 6-2, achieving the title and a new lifetime best.

Girls

Sticking with the high jump, Emma Tuwei matched her personal best at the Big 9 Track and Field Championship. The freshman from Mankato West High School cleared 5-6 and remains at the top of her class.

At the top of the event for their class is Maren Emery, who won the girls' triple jump at the Suburban East Conference Championship. From Woodbury High School, Emery jumped a lifetime best of 39-5 to take the victory. The freshman also set a best of 17-7 in the long jump, finishing runner-up.
