Anyone who has been paying attention to the youth categories of USATF and AAU track meets the past few years has undoubtedly seen the name of Daisy Islas, as her attendance at such meets has been prolific. But now that she is in seventh grade, she can start showcasing her skills among high school competition, and she is off to a great start. At the Irish Invite, she finished tenth overall, and last week in her first high school 5K, she took 6th on a tough course with a time of 19:38, the best of all seventh-grade girls in the state.
