In 2016, girls distance running in Minnesota featured incredible talent, and some of the strongest depth in recent memory. The 2017 season is set to be even better. Last year's champion, who won while still in middle school, is back. Last year's runner up returns as well. In fact, 7 of the top 11 finishers at last season's State Meet are coming back, all itching to improve on their place a year ago. And of last year's All-State runners, only 9 were seniors, meaning the majority of Minnesota's finest runners will all have another go at the podium. Despite the incredible quality of the field returning from last year, there still remains ample opportunity for these ten individuals and the countless others right on their heels to make the leap to All-State honors, the podium, or even atop the throne.
