PREVIEW: 10 Class A Boys Who Could Dominate This Fall

Geno Uhrbom (Freshman, Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin)

Over the past few years, Minnesota distance running fans have had the luxury of being able to experience several young prodigies, from Grace Ping to Eli Krahn to Anna Fenske. Fresh on the block is the newest phenom, Geno Uhrbom. As an 8th grader, Uhrbom placed 24th at State to nab All-State honors, the youngest boy to do so. Despite such an effort, Uhrbom arguably had an even more impressive track season. While still in middle school, Uhrbom ran 4:29.66 in the 1600, making him one of only three 8th graders to break 4:30. That time is only 3 seconds off of freshman national record holder Krahn's time at that age, so Uhrbom seems to have an extremely bright future. It will be very interesting to see what sort of leap he can make this season.
