Shane Streich of Waseca High School won his first Section 2A Championship when he was in 8th grade, and he went on to win it a total of five times in his high school career. As such, Streich also owns four of the eight fastest performances in the section since 1999. While he did not win his first State Championship in cross country until he was a senior, his track career proved to be one of the most impressive ever for a Class A boy, qualifying for State in five different events and winning six state titles. Streich is currently competing for the University of Minnesota, where he is currently one of the Big 10 Conference's top 800-meter runners.
